About the course

This is a five or six day course for instrumentalists and vocalists seeking to develop their jazz playing skills and experience alongside other like-minded jazz lovers and a first-class team of tutors.

The course is open to people from a wide range of backgrounds and experience - from beginner to advanced - and gives the chance to discover and build new techniques, gain valuable playing experience in a variety of small, medium , and large ensembles exploring a variety of styles and idioms, and as well as exploring new repertoire.

The course offers a the comprehensive range of learning and playing opportunities looking into rhythm, harmony, improvisation, comping, soloing, rehearsal, performance, and the vital ingredients of confidence and fun!

The course welcomes players with wide range of backgrounds and interests, and is available for both residential and course only members. Special features of the week include daily evening live sessions at a nearby local venue, and a final night concert on campus which is open to family and friends.

The course facilities at Falmouth University are well-equipped with purpose built music practice, rehearsal, and performance studios. The campus accomodation and eating options are well appointed, and there is a full time pastoral care provision for under 18’s.

A fantastic week of jazz discovery and music making takes place set in the spacious green Penryn Campus, making this a stimulating and relaxing Cornish hang!

Accommodation

Rooms on campus are comfortable double ensuite rooms (with towels) and shared Kitchen / dining Spaces. Twin rooms are also bookable. All rooms have a breakfast option.

Hot food is also available a la carte at the campus refectory and several other onsite cafes, and a campus shop. In nearby Penryn (15 min walk) are various eateries and a 24hr Asda. Also available throughout the day will be hot food & salads for lunch, and all tea, dcoffee, drinks, and lots of cake provided by theThe AMATA Cafe.   

Members who will stay on campus during the course are required to book their room directly from the campus accommodation service at: Info and details soon.
